Online Blackjack – Get The Better Of The Dealer In The Race To 21

Blackjack is one of the most popular card games and an easy game for newbies in the world of gambling to learn as well. You will find an array of online blackjack variants. The rules are simple while every new player can always practice and master a few blackjack strategies. The house edge is less than 1 percent so even a basic blackjack strategy has the potential to earn some good money when compared with many other online casino games. The good thing is that many casinos include blackjack in their welcome bonus offers and other bonuses as well.

Blackjack – the objective

Blackjack is all about beating the dealer by getting a hand value of as close to 21 as possible without going over. Each card has a value where Cards 2 – 10 are their face value while the Jack, Queen and King are worth 10 points each and the Ace worth 1 or 11.

How to Play Online Blackjack

Online blackjack is a quick paced game where you simply need to place a bet. Press deal to receive two cards. The dealer will also receive one card face up and another face down. Depending on the value of your hand you can either choose to Hit, Stand, Double or Split. If you do not settle on a number or go bust you need to repeat the process until you settle or bust.

Available Actions in online blackjack

Once the dealer deals the cards you have the option to Hit, which is to accept an additional card by discarding any low value card.

If you are satisfied with your hand and do not want to accept any other cards, you Stand.

Online blackjack also offers the option to Double your initial bet and accept only one more card.

If you have two of the same cards such as a KK or 10-10 you can choose to Split, which is separate them into two hands and double the chances of getting nearer to 21.

Some online blackjack variants offer the option to buy Insurance. For example, if the dealer shows an King, you can place up to half your original bet if the dealer has a blackjack. If the value of the facedown card is not a 10-value card, your winning Insurance bet will be paid at odds of 2:1.

Major Online Blackjack Variants

Here is a look at some of the popular online blackjack variants where games vary in the number of decks used, high or low limits, number of hands, and the option to surrender. In some variants you will find at blackjack casinos, the dealer stands or hits on a soft 17.

European Blackjack

This is played with 2 decks and offers a 3:2 payout for a blackjack and 2:1 for Insurance bets.  Players are allowed to double only on totals of 9-11 and can double after a split. The dealer stands on a soft 17.

American Blackjack

This online blackjack variant is also a popular version that allows players to Split, and Double on 10 or 11. The dealer must draw cards until he gets 17.

Double Exposure

Both the dealer cards are exposed in this blackjack variation. The house edge is greater than in conventional blackjack. The major benefit is that players get a better idea of whether to Hit or Stand or even Double their bet. The game is played with 6-8 decks while the dealer hits on soft 17.
